Greylyn Wayne was born from that passion, and today, Jody leads a team known for their thoughtful approach and beautiful designs that are both inviting and inspiring.
In addition to countless interior design projects, Jody has been the lead interior designer in four unique homes for the NW Natural Street of Dreams in 2019, 2021, 2024, and most recently in 2025. Q: Tell us about Greylyn Wayne and your design style.
A: When I first started in design, I had a vision of working closely with my clients to find a way to design with their personality and way of life in mind. I wanted Greylyn Wayne to reflect what matters most to me: my three children. “Greylyn Wayne” is a combination of their middle names. In the 12 years since we began, the business has steadily grown and I’ve had the pleasure of working with some terrific clients.
As for my design style, I gravitate to many different styles - from craftsman, to mid-century modern, to European/Spanish and even eclectic. I enjoy working with all different styles and finding the approach that best works for my clients. I want to ensure their home is a reflection of who they are.
Q: What are some of your favorite design trends right now?
A: I always make it a point to stay ahead of trends by researching and attending industry events and markets. I truly enjoy introducing fresh, new ideas into my work. Lately, however, I’ve noticed a shift toward vintage and retro styles, which I find incredibly exciting. These designs often feature rich details and evoke a sense of nostalgia, bringing back memories that feel timeless. It’s thrilling to merge elements from the past with modern-day concepts, creating something that feels both familiar and innovative.
Another trend I’ve observed is the increased use of color. For the past few years, neutral tones like greys have dominated, but now there’s a growing shift toward vibrant, rich colors. These bold choices bring personality and warmth to a space, helping to make each room feel more dynamic and inviting.
Q: What is your dream project?
A: Actually, my dream project is Alla Famiglia, the home featured in the 2025 NW Natural Street of Dreams. This project has given me the opportunity to combine modern designs with vintage, European styles and create a multigenerational home. It has also allowed me to work with an awesome team of people that have been excited to take on this challenge.
Q: What is currently inspiring or influencing your work?
A: Family is incredibly important to me and always has an influence on my work. A priority for me is to try and understand how my client intends to use their home and how they want to incorporate family. I try to focus on creating designs that are warm and welcoming. I also work closely with my clients to design homes that can accommodate multiple generations and serve as a gathering place for family and friends.
Recently, I’ve also focused on blending traditional, old-world techniques with modern design elements. For example, we’ve incorporated plaster finishes in the Alla Famiglia project, which adds timeless texture, while also integrating organic materials like stone and quartzite to create a balance of natural elegance and durability.
Q: What are three words to describe your design style?
A: Timeless, Warm, and Nurturing.
Q: What are some design features or products that are worth investing in?
A: I believe investing in exceptional flooring is crucial. My husband once said that it’s the one element you’ll interact with every single day. It's also a feature that's visible throughout the entire home. When done right, flooring can truly stand the test of time and elevate the space.
Lighting is another key element that can dramatically impact the feel of your home. Thoughtfully layered lighting helps set the mood and ambiance, while also offering the opportunity to introduce unique design concepts and create striking focal points.
Of course, priorities will vary from client to client. The key is to invest in the areas that matter most to each individual client, ensuring their home reflects both function and personal style.
Q: What is your favorite room in a house?
A: The kitchen has always held a special place in my heart. I cherish my memories of baking and canning with my grandma and mom. When designing a kitchen, it’s essential to ensure it’s not only highly functional but also seamlessly integrates with the rest of the home. In the Alla Famiglia, we’ve incorporated stunning appliances and a functional working pantry. The design also allows for a natural flow from the kitchen to the living spaces, including the great room and outdoor areas, creating a cohesive and inviting environment.
Q: What has been your favorite part about participating in the NW Natural Street of Dreams?
A: A few years ago, I made the decision to pass on the home staging side of our operation to my daughter and her husband. I worked tirelessly to guide them into their current roles and to show them how I envisioned Greylyn Wayne continuing to operate, ensuring it stands the test of time. Thankfully, I’ve been able to remain a strong presence as the lead designer, dedicating the time and attention needed to craft beautiful, custom projects.
The NW Natural Street of Dreams is more than just a builder’s competition—it’s a blank canvas where the construction industry can pour its heart and soul into a property. This house, with its intricate finishes, bespoke fixtures, multiple living spaces, and grand entry, is a direct reflection of my purpose in life. It stands as a testament to the sacrifices my husband and I made, all for the love and legacy of Alla Famiglia.
