Home Office Design Questions

Do you design home offices and studies?

Yes. We plan the desk position, lighting, seating, storage and finishes, then source, install and style the room. If you want built-in shelving or new wiring, your contractor builds it to the design.

How much does home office design cost?

It depends on the scope, from a single consultation to full-service design. We quote after the discovery call. Our guide to what an interior designer costs in Portland explains how designers usually charge.

How far should my screen be from my eyes?

OSHA's workstation guidance prefers 20 to 40 inches from eye to screen, with the top of the screen at or slightly below eye level. We plan desk depth and placement around that.

Where should the desk go?

Often side-on to a window, so daylight doesn't glare on the screen or backlight you on calls. We pick the spot from your room, your work and where the outlets are.

What should I have ready for the discovery call?

A few phone photos of the room, rough measurements if you have them, and how you work: screens, calls, storage and who else uses the room.
